I know quite a few people who find their way to this post will likely groan and say to themselves “I’ll believe it when I see it” – but it is my hope that as I am making the details public that it will help motivate me to follow through with these projects with alacrity. In the near future, I plan to set up some more prominent social media and video streaming/watching/profile links to help people more easily find my YouTube and Twitch channels as well as hopefully maybe be a bit more interactive with questions and answers on twitter.
I’ve thought on and off about creating a forum here, but honestly given my social media presence spread around elsewhere, I don’t really think that adding a forum here would really be of any use to most of the people who view my content here (please feel free to hit me up on Twitter if you feel differently, I value your opinions) and I would also be somewhat worried about form software bugs drastically reducing the security of my site (which has happened to me a few times in the past.)
Anyhow, I’ve been doing a little bit more casual game streaming over on Twitch, so please do join me there and don’t forget to press that follow button in the upper right to get notified when I go live. Also, when I do play games over there, I typically send out a tweet a little bit in advance (just before I start getting set up), and I’m going to try to put together a bit more YouTube content in the next few weeks as well. I’ve got quite a few things to say about a whole slew of nerd things (notably the state of virtual reality, augmented reality, phone and tablet design options, the future of user interfaces and a whole lot more), so please head on over there, get subscribed, hit that bell icon to get notified when I post new content, and I’m sure anything that I think is really snazzy will end up posted back over here eventually as well.
Have a suggestion as to how I can make this site (or any of my videos or other interactions) better? Have any questions for me or the community? Please don’t hesitate to hit me up on Twitter and I’m happy to talk!

As many of you know, I have been investigating doing a video podcast here for quite some time now, but have yet to get around to sitting down, coming up with some reasonable content to share, shooting, editing, and actually getting it done. it’s not like the task of getting it done is terribly difficult, I’ve just been pretty short on time and content as of late and also I would like to start off with a camera a little nicer than the iSight integrated webcam in my macbook pro. I just picked up a GFM DV-150 on woot for $30 last week which has pretty good low light shooting but is only 640×480 and has pretty low optical quality. I was hoping that I could start shooting with THAT, but it just feels too poor quality to make my viewers watch that… I’m thinking about perhaps picking up a used Kodak zi6, or perhaps looking at a real “camcorder” shaped camera that should provide things like optical zoom, image stabilization, variable focus, etc. but my price range is less than $100… if anybody has any suggestions for a camera, any content ideas for the show (what do you want to see, what kinds of questions do you have?), please hit the reply button now!

gallery2 is installed and linked on the main menu directly for now as i can’t seem to figure out how to wrestle the gallery2 bridge in drupal to function the way i’d like… it’ll just take a little time.

figure out how to get clean url’s operational – i don’t know why it’s grayed out… I think it has something to do with the implementation of mod_rewrite in apache2. apache says it works, but drupal still says it’s broken… something to do pretty soon.

I need to set up a full donations page explaining exactly why I need donations and what forms they can take.
paypal – an old standby, works pretty well for monetary donations
oldish hardware – this site runs old crap hardware and i doubt it’d be hard to find something that someone wants to throw away that’s faster than what i’ve got going… i just need to specify minimum requirements.
currently the needs are basically:
anything above 1ghz pIII/athlon, 1.8ghz pentium 4 (pentium 4’s are slower)
256+MB ram
20+gb hard drives
must be either run really really quiet, or figure out some way to do so.
shipping negotiable depending on hardware.
other computer, a/v, and video game donations welcome, just post in the donations forum
